Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

Reunite with Your True Self         in California

Integrative Healing with Parts Work for High Achievers Living with Complex Trauma

You've built an impressive life. From the outside, you're the definition of success—accomplished, reliable, the person everyone turns to for support. But internally, you're exhausted. The anxiety never quite goes away. You feel disconnected from yourself and others, even in your closest relationships. Childhood wounds that you thought you'd outgrown still influence your daily decisions and emotional responses.

You don't have to keep pushing through. You deserve support that meets you where you are and helps you grow into where you want to be. Through my integrative approach centered in Internal Family Systems therapy, I offer a transformative path forward—one that honors both your strength and your struggles.

My Integrative Approach to Internal Family Systems Therapy

Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, I draw from several powerful modalities to support your healing, with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy at the core. The Internal Family Systems model, developed by Richard Schwartz, recognizes that we all have different "parts" or subpersonalities within our internal system. Each part developed to protect you, carrying positive intent, even when their strategies no longer serve you.

How I Integrate IFS with Other Healing Modalities

Parts Work (IFS-Informed)
Through Internal Family Systems therapy, we explore the different parts of you—like your inner critic, perfectionist, or protector—and help them work together instead of against each other. This builds self-compassion and emotional clarity. Your wounded parts learn they can trust your Core Self to lead, transforming from extreme roles into valuable resources for well-being.

EMDR Therapy
Integrated with the IFS model, EMDR helps you process trauma, anxiety, and emotional pain without having to relive every detail. It's a gentle yet effective way to reduce symptoms and restore balance. When we combine EMDR with Internal Family Systems therapy, your protective parts can relax, allowing deeper healing to occur.

Emotion Processing
Together, we'll create a safe space to feel, understand, and release emotions that have been buried or overwhelming. The Internal Family Systems model provides a framework for understanding why certain parts hold these painful emotions, while I guide you in learning how to stay grounded even when things feel intense.

Skills Building
You'll learn practical tools to manage stress, set boundaries, regulate emotions, and communicate more effectively. These aren't just coping strategies—they're life-enhancing skills that support your self-leadership and help your internal system function harmoniously.

Symptom Reduction & Nervous System Support
Whether you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, or trauma responses, we'll work to calm your nervous system and reduce distressing symptoms. Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy helps you understand which parts trigger these responses, allowing for targeted healing that helps you feel more like yourself again.

This integrative approach isn't just about feeling "better." It's about building a life that feels aligned, fulfilling, and emotionally secure. My goal is to help you reconnect with your inner wisdom, reclaim your energy, and create relationships that nourish, not drain you.

Understanding Your Internal Family System

Within the Internal Family Systems model, your mind contains subpersonalities that interact like family members. In my integrative practice, I help you recognize three types of parts:

Managers - The proactive protectors working overtime to keep you safe through control, perfectionism, and achievement. While they have positive intent, they may leave you exhausted and disconnected from your true Self.

Exiles - The vulnerable parts holding painful memories and emotions from the past. These exile parts carry wounds that other parts work hard to protect you from feeling. Through gentle emotion processing and EMDR, we help these parts heal without re-traumatization.

Firefighters - The emergency responders that emerge when emotional pain threatens to surface, using distraction or numbing as protection. With skills building and nervous system support, we help firefighters find healthier ways to manage distress.

Through this integrative Internal Family Systems therapy approach, these parts learn to work together rather than against each other, allowing your Core Self to lead with wisdom and clarity.
